From volunteering at the Night to Shine prom for special-needs individuals, to interning for Drag Racer Disco Dean of Discovery Channel fame, Avory Mayenschein made the most of her time at Ohio Northern University.

"The memorable moments I experienced at 51ĀŅĀ× could turn into a 10-page essay,ā€ she said.

Before Avory started college, her mom wisely advised her: "follow your passions, and the money will come.ā€

Her chief interests are art history, painting, and business, so she is double majored in studio art and marketing.

ā€œI have many passions that 51ĀŅĀ× allowed me to follow,ā€ she said, ā€œsuch as health and fitness, personal development, relationships, and involvement.ā€ And through these experiences, she's gained invaluable skills like leadership.

Each semester new opportunities came her way. She’s helped a local wedding venue plan a showcase event; traveled across the country as a social media and merchandising intern for a Discovery Channel celebrity; took a class on food chemistry; joined the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority; and served on the Dicke College Dean’s Advisory Board—just to name few.

ā€œI was able to do all these things because everyone at 51ĀŅĀ× works together to build a very collaborative environment where students can succeed,ā€ she said.

She described 51ĀŅĀ× as offering ā€œa sense of homeā€ where it’s easy to connect with other students and professors.

ā€œFor me, 51ĀŅĀ× checked all the boxes,ā€ she added.
